About Us

System 1’s Steve Faria (with trophy) is best known for being the first to break the 5-second barrier with his NHRA event-winning Top Alcohol Dragster.

About Us

System 1 Filtration was founded in Visalia, California in 1985, and owned by a Greenwich, Connecticut-based investment group. Concurrently, prominent Central Valley businessman and farmer Steve Faria was manufacturing billet oil pumps as a sideline and actively drag racing in the Top Alcohol Dragster category.

Faria won a number of NHRA events, and his name is etched in drag racing history as the first Alcohol racer to break into the 5-second zone.  He has subsequently moved up into the Top Fuel ranks, today participating on a very limited basis.

In 1989 the investment group wanted to divest themselves of their automotive holdings and Faria agreed to purchase the company. The rest is history!

After spending the first few years in Visalia, Faria acquired a building in nearby Tulare that enabled the firm to bring all manufacturing in-house and significantly expand their capabilities.

More recently, Faria and long-time performance industry ignition specialist Bob Wyman, formed a sister company, System 1 Pro Ignition —which operates out of its own facility nearby.

Today, System 1 stands ready to provide racers in all forms of competition with a wide range of highly effective filtration products. The company has also expanded its line of products for automotive and light truck applications, as well as heavy-duty trucking, farming and industrial applications. And they’re all proudly manufactured in the U.S.A.
